The word multimedia has become very popular recently. The evolution of communication technology has only recently allowed us to envision more effective ways of reaching people and with the growth of internet technology we've begun to look for more advanced ways of making statements. The potential of the web was finally making itself visible, so we stepped up to the plate and began creating multimedia presentations which we could mass distribute via the web.

However, multimedia applies to much more than the web. CD-ROMs, product demonstrations, board room presentations can, and often are, presented in multimedia fashion. We have come to realize that getting messages across is almost always more effective when there is more corroborating sensory input delivering the same message. Now that the technology can accommodate us, more and more companies are choosing to present information in more versatile and dynamic ways; using multimedia.

The need for using multimedia in almost any form of corporate expression is obvious. People respond more positively to presentations which are visual and audible as opposed to simply legible. Every company is in the business of presenting some aspect of itself to the world, and doing so as effectively as possible. This is where the need for multimedia comes up.

In its truest sense, multimedia is meant to reinforce a message, not distract from it. It is important to incorporate alternate forms of communication in today's financial dealings, however not at the expense of the message. Make sure that what you include in your presentation does not undermine your intention, the message after all is what you are selling. Multimedia is simply a tool for selling it.

Artifex's multimedia services:

Websites: The web has the potential to be so much more, eventually it will merge with TV and one will be indistinguishable from the other. The trend is already visible. You may want to ask yourself if you will be among those who have had the vision or whether you will wait until the truth can no longer be ignored. Soon competing for web exposure will be much like competing for commercial spots on TV. Perhaps it is time to consider revamping your online presence so that it better reflects the image you want to project. Multimedia websites can be anything from a site like this one, to one like this www.artifexgroup.com/sanctuary.html

CD-ROMs: CD-ROMs are an excellent way of distributing multimedia presentations. Though many CD-ROMs which are distributed are never viewed, those which are have a more powerful impact on the viewer than printed literature. However, as the cost of CD-ROMs drops and more and more people become accustomed to this new medium, the popularity of CD-ROMs in the corporate sector has been increasing dramatically. Customized shapes, storage capacities, and labeling has provided a practical way of encapsulating information.

Corporate presentations: Whether in the board room, in an annual report, or for any occasion when a presentation must be made, multimedia becomes integral. Simply slap in a CD-ROM and play or run the whole presentation off of your laptop. Anything you can describe can be described better visually, or if not, can at the very least help clarify your message.

Ad Emails: Perhaps you have received an animated greeting card or invitation email once or twice. The concept is not so new; using email to send directed advertising to specific targets. However, today the quality of ads that can be offered has changed dramatically. New software allows designers to create incredibly dynamic advertisements and embed them into emails which can then be sent to any number of consumers. Ad emails may present you with another advertising option which you may find quite effective.

Product or service demonstrations: The words "seeing is believing" may be trite, however they hold a certain truth. Visual demonstrations of products or services are efficient ways of insuring that your target audience will truly understand what it is you are describing. It is one thing to describe a product to someone and to show them photographs of it, but it is another thing altogether to show it to them in a comprehensive yet simple multimedia presentation. Share your vision with others, but do so with more than simple words, it works so much better.
